I always hear black women say I am a strong and proud black women .If they are so proud of thenself as a african american, why they always want to straighten their hair or color it blond?
Why black women?
First of all, white women are not the only ones with straight hair. Pretty much every race (except black) have straight hair. People are so quick to say "we're trying to look white". What about Native Americans or Asians?? The point is, we're not "trying" to look like anyone. How can we? We're black women! Depending on your hair texture, kinky hair can be EXTREMELY difficult to manage. Plus, we're women too. We like the latest fashions..etc. If there's a hairstyle out there that we want to do, and it requires straight hair, why cant we? This question is old and played. My skin is black, and my features are black. That's what makes me a black woman. Plus, not all black women even have kinky hair. That doesnt make them less black.

what makes you a black women is the anwer that you gave.still didn't get right ,but i will explain again. The point is that if you are proud of who you are and your race, why try to look diferent. got it your should I go slow for you sassy curl. Report It
Why black women?
So you think kinky hair and or stright hair or black hair makes a black person a black person. ?
Why black women?
Straighten hair is more managable. Why do white people always get perms for curly hair. Or put dye on it to cover the gray. From a white girl who loves to highlight her hair.
Why black women?
these are the ones who still think, subconsciously that white is might......they gotta grow up, man
Why black women?
For the same reason some white people get a tan to darken their skin!
Why black women?
it`s their liberty

Their cosmetic preferences have nothing to do with it. Many women of all races say they are "proud" of their body and appearance, but that doesn't stop them from wearing make up, and going to tanning salons, and getting liposuction, does it?
How come no one brings this type of sh@t up when red headed women color their hair blonde, or black? Why is it a "black woman thing"? Lots of proud blond women have colored their hair brown, red purple, blue, even hot pink? What the hell are you talking about?
Why black women?
coloring your hair and staighting your hair doesn't make you strong, being able to stand tall, take care of yourself ,respect yourself, and all that other good stuff that's what makes you strong

One of the great freedoms you have in America is to do as you want with hair etc to keep up with the times or just to please yourself . This freedom is given no matter where you originally came from or what colour skin you have. I suggest you have a good look at yourself and see if you can find any of this free spirit in yourself you may be surprised.

Because they are women ...
Be quiet now.
Why black women?
because everyone is free to say and do what they want...

As a strong, proud black woman, let me tell you...We are strong because of our resiliance...we can bounce back from almost anything. We have carried some heavy burdens and from it have gained strength...Some of us are proud of who we are, proud of our heritage, and coloring our hair blond or any other color has nothing to do with it.

What does coloring hair have to do with being a strong black woman??? The last time I checked I thought that was a personal choice that someone makes no matter what their skin color. Coloring your hair has nothing to do with how strong and proud you are. Why is this bothering you so much to ask the question??? White women and every other race of women color their hair also so your question is pretty stupid to be asking in the first place. Your racist and so is your question. Try asking something that's worth talking about.
By the way I'm a black woman
Why black women?
I dont see the connection.
Why does coloring their hair blonde have anything to do
with it.
Why black women?
does my hair look straight and blonde to you fellow???

" i didnt think so"

Straighter hair is easier to manage according to my wife and sisters. Black women are strong and their hair has nothing to do with it. Personally, I do like to see black women with blond hair but that is there choice. I can turn around and ask why do some white people tan and some even get the injections in their lips to make their fuller.
Why black women?
I don't see the racism in your question, but to answer it I think some of the reasons that they do not wear it natural are:
- they think it will be harder to manage
- they wouldn't know how to manage their hair
-it is often looked down upon even amongst their own people
- the ideal beauty is straight hair (not something black people made up)
But I must say that how your hair is worn does not make you any less strong or proud of who you are
Why black women?
that is a very good question. I think they are proud of who they are at the same time I think many women feel pressured to fit a certain type of beauty. So many white girls dye their hair blond when in fact they have dark brown hair. I think their still proud to be white people with brown hair only they feel pressured to conform to an ideal beauty.
