How can I get shiny, more manageable hair...?

I have this completely crazy hair.. If I let it dry naturally after I shower, it "inflates", and becomes very frizzy and blah. It is naturally wavy. I would liek to make it more managable (preferably even to a point where I can shower, put some product on, and go!)... Everything I have used so far doesn't work. It is shoulder-length, and I am not african-american (Just so you know..) Any tips?!?!

What products have you used???

I have wavy hair and I either use mousse or a mix of shine serum and curl cream when I go curly. I have used Garnier products for curly hair and they work for me. You may also want to try a deep conditioner once a week Check out Oiudad's website for products. You can fill out a questionnaire to find the best products for your hair type.

I use a lot of Herbal Essences Dangerously Straight products and they do wonders for my frizzy, wavy hair. Especially the straightening mousse. Good luck!!

if you want natural shiny hair and you color your hair start all over and grow it out to regain that natural shine almost everyone has it! i know that going to take a long time to do that but it helps in the mean time buy a strightener it rids of the frizz making your hair shine . if you have curls its all about buying the right products for your hair which this type of hair needs more care than anything because it can be so unruhly

its kind of expensive but its TOTALLY worth it....biosilk silk therapy will make your hair so shiny and smooth and silky you wont even recognize your own hair. i know lots of hair stylists that swear by it....myself included. you wil have to buy it at a salon

Well part of the problem is the products you've tried. I have the same problem! Look in the ingredients of Wal-Mart type brands like Fructis and you'll notice some type of alcohol in them. Alcohol is SO bad for your hair and will dry it out even further! I had a lot of luck w/ the Sunsilk, but since u said u tried that, I would recommend Redkin products or Biolage. They are more expensive, but are super moisturizing w/ no alcohol. That's the only ones that worked well for me. Also, a good conditioning CREAM (not regular conditioner) will probably help a lot. I use the Biolage in the tub- wonderful! You can also try a deep moisturizing treatment or chemical straightening from your local salon if u want to spend the $30.

I have curly frizzy hair too. Here are a few tips:

1. Wash: Don't wash your hair too often because it will become dry. 2 or 3 times a week max. Comb it before washing to get rid of knots. Be gentle while scrubbing to avoid tangles.

2. Shampoo: Don't go against nature! If your hair is curly, use a shampoo for curly hair. Don't use one to make it "sleek and straight". Do use a conditioner for your type of hair too. For curly/wavy hair, try Redken's Fresh Curls.

3. Leave-in treatment: A couple products that are fantastic. They tame my wild frizzy mane like you wouldn't believe! FHI Heat Hot Sauce and CHI Silk Infusion. Apply on damp hair.

4. Drying: don't comb your hair if it doesn't need to be, especially for curly hair. This will allow the natural curls to reform and avoid frizz. Let you hair dry naturally until about 80% dry. Then tie it up until fully dry. If you are in a hurry, use a blow dryer and run your fingers in your hair until the hair is about 80% dry - keep the low setting so as not to destroy your natural curl patterns. Tie it up again until completely dry. (Hint: keep your hair tied every time you go outdoors too, especially on windy days.) Finish off with a drop of serum on the length to protect against humidity.

Hope this works for you! It took me years to figure out how to manage my hair. The key is to use products for your natural hair type, and not against it! :)
