Im black and i always been taught that light skin people are more beautiful and wavey curly hair is good and nappy hair is bad.We need to recongnize the self-hatetred and end it. I'n my household we never talked about finding what part of africa we came from all i heard was negativity.

I always here about this whole "light skinned battlle" but I was never brought up to think that, I don't judge others by color or tone or hue, I judge them by how they dress or carry themselves (which is just as superficial) but I get tired of hearing about all these racial things, I'm proud to be me, not just being black, or intelligent, or bisexual, or middle class, I 'm just proud of me, and all this division does is allow more tension. Wars always start because people get too proud of who they are and wana separate themselves.

Im Black, Ive got my ears gauged, tattoos, and Im dating someone whos white. For some reason "most" of the static I get is from my own people. They say Im trying to be white, and that I think Im better. Honestly I wasnt raised to see color, Im me and I do what I do because Im grown and can make my own decisions. Light skinned, Dark skinned, whatever your still black soo be proud and be yourself. Let beyonce wear her weaves, and Tyra rock her contacts............its not hurting anyone....smiles

it's because of the blonde hair and blue eye syndrome..that's considered beautiful and it's glorified...so somehow "we"African Americans have tried to fit into that mold...wanting to look less ethnic..because we are tricked into believing that pointer the nose the better..the less knicks your hair have the better and etc...it's horrible..i must admit I'm a victim of the b.s....
